Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ Reportedly Finds Writer

King Of Wakanda’s Solo Adventure

TheWrap reports that Marvel Studios has found a writer for the King of Wakanda’s first solo adventure. John Robert Cole (Amber Lake) is reportedly closet to closing a deal to pen the script for Black Panther movie with Chadwick Boseman already on board to star as the titular superhero.

Cole was previously rumored to have written a draft of Marvel’s Inhumans feature, set for release on July 12, 2019, but those rumors were never confirmed. The first draft of the Black Panther movie script was written by documentary filmmaker Mark Bailey.

The outlet contradicts recent report that Straight Outta Compton‘s F. Gary Gray was in line to helm Black Panther, saying that the studio doesn’t plan to pick a director until it has a script, although Marvel had considered helmers like Ava DuVernay (who turned Marvel down). It looks like Gray will be directing Furious 8 instead.

Andy Serkis is expected, but not yet confirmed to reprise his role as Black Panther villain Ulysses Klaw from Avengers: Age of Ultron. Elsewhere, T’Challa’s character is set to make his big-screen debut next year in Captain America: Civil War, but I rather not get excited until after Black Panther’s cameo in Civil War is finished.
