Mel Gibson is Working on a ‘Passion of the Christ’ Sequel

Gibson’s 2004 Primer In Ancient-Aramaic

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mel Gibson is working on a follow-up to one of his more successful and controversial films, The Passion of the Christ.

Braveheart writer Randall Wallace, who penned Passion, told the trade publication he is writing the script that will recount the resurrection. The project is still in the early script stages but Wallace indicates there are several investors interested in such a movie.

It’s not known if Jim Caviezel will return for the lead role of Jesus. It’s not known who will play the parts of Mary Magdalene, or any others in the film.

Gibson’s 2004 primer in ancient Aramaic is still the highest grossing independent film in North America, making almost $612 million on a $30 million budget. I’m genuinely curious if this is a strange attempt at a cash grab or if it could actually be a legitimate story.
