Michael B. Jordan Teases Details of the New FANTASTIC FOUR

Michael B. Jordan, who will take on the role of Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in Marvel’s first family, The Fantastic Four, has given a few details about the costumes that he, Kate Mara, Miles Teller and Jamie Bell will be wearing in Josh Trank’s upcoming reboot.

In an interview with Good Morning America (via ABC News), the actor teased the new look, which he referred to as “containment suits” as opposed to the expected “spandex.”

“It’s a new look. We are all in containment suits. … It’s gritty. It’s a gritty film,” he said. “The costume process definitely took some time to get in and out of that thing, especially since I was bulking up. It was a little more snug during filming. We got through it man. It was a process, but we did it. It was hard work,”

the actor added.

As to the highly-anticipated flick itself, Jordan said,

“I’m really excited about it, everyone is really happy. We worked hard for three months, put a lot of time into it. The script is very grounded and relatable to everybody, as much as you can. You really get a chance to grow with these characters. It’s an origin story. You get to discover these abilities. These disabilities rather and grow with them.”

Jordan is joined by Miles Teller as Mister Fantastic, Kate Mara as Invisible Woman, and Jamie Bell as The Thing. Co-starring Toby Kebbell as Victor Von Doom, Reg E. Cathey as Dr. Storm and Tim Blake Nelson as Harvey Elder, aka the Mole Man, the talent involved is more promising than Ant-Man. Sadly, it’s just feeling very miscast at this point and Jordan is the only casting choice I’m not unhappy with.

Jordan, 27, also said he’s not aware of any potential crossovers with The Avengers, or the chance of a teaser clip of The Fantastic Four post-credit of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which hits theaters a few months earlier in May 2015.

“I have no clue, I have no idea about any of that,” he said. “From a personal standpoint, it would always be cool to collaborate with other talented actors in that franchise. But I just have no clue whatsoever what Marvel has up their sleeve.”

This is unlikely, of course because Fox and Marvel separately own those franchise film rights.

The Fantastic Four opens August 7, 2015.
