Michael Fassbender Now Eyed for Role of Steve Jobs

X-Men: Days of Future Past star Michael Fassbender is the latest high-profile actor linked to Sony’s Steve Jobs biopic, according to various sources.

Fassbender is reportetly in early talks to take on the role of Apple’s late co-founder, following the exits of Christian Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio. Wow that was really fast, Bale pulled out of the Aaron Sorkin-scripted picture just yesterday!

If Fassbender came on board then first of all it would elevate the project to another level. The actor was hailed as one of Hollywood’s most exciting talents with blockbuster role such as Magneto in the X-Men franchise as well as his grittier performances in films like Hunger, Shame, 12 Years a Slave and Frank. His performance in Prometheus was terrific too. Looks are completely secondary and it takes only a few hours to change someone’s appearance with makeup and wardrobe. Steve Jobs was essentially a suitless Magneto anyway.

Seth Rogen is still in talks to play Steve Wozniak while Jessica Chastain is also circling an unspecified role in the film.

Sony hopes to get Danny Boyle-directed movie into production in the winter so Fassbender may be able to squeeze it into his busy schedule, which includes X-Men: Apocalypse and Assassin’s Creed. The next Steve Jobs biopic is obviously shaping up as an event prestige film.
