‘Money Monster’ Trailer: Starring George Clooney & Julia Roberts

George Clooney & Jack O’Connell

TriStar Pictures has debuted the first trailer for Jodie Foster‘s Money Monster, starring George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Jack O’Connell of Unbroken fame.

“The film is not a polemic,” said Foster. “It’s really about the brotherhood that forms between these two men who thought they were on opposite sides, who hated each other, until they realize they’re both fighting for the same thing.”

Kudos to Foster for directing a thriller-type movie, but this is the preachy flip side of The Big Short. Clooney and Roberts play rich TV people talking about money, working class guy (O’Connell) who “just wants answers”, and Bruce Springsteen song. The music sounds like it was meant for a feel good movie.

Also starring Dominic West, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Meade, and Caitriona Balfe, the film is due in theaters on May 13th. Check out the first trailer below.

Ummm, Clooney’s pulled punch was so distractingly fake. I don’t trust his movies anymore.

Jodie Foster's Thriller

In the taut and tense thriller Money Monster, Lee Gates (George Clooney) is a bombastic TV personality whose popular financial network show has made him the money wiz of Wall Street. But after he hawks a high tech stock that mysteriously crashes, an irate investor (Jack O’Connell) takes Gates, his crew, and his ace producer Patty Fenn (Julia Roberts) hostage live on air. Unfolding in real time, Gates and Fenn must find a way to keep themselves alive while simultaneously uncovering the truth behind a tangle of big money lies.
