Morena Baccarin Lands Female Lead in Fox’s DEADPOOL Movie

The Femaile Lead

According to THR, “Gotham” star Morena Baccarin has landed the female lead in the upcoming Deadpool, Fox’s action movie directed by Tim Miller.

“Firefly” alum Baccarin has signed on to play Wade Wilson’s (Ryan Reynolds) love interest, who “grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face.”

The most influential theory is that she’ll be playing Vanessa Carlysle, aka Copycat, but no name has been given to the character yet. Baccarin was one of six actresses that were testing for the role, but she ended up winning it.

The film also includes T.J. Miller (possibly Weasel), Ed Skrein (probably Ajax) and Gina Carano (Angle Dust), as well as the mutant Colossus, though Daniel Cudmore has confirmed he will not appear as the character.

The movie is currently scheduled for a release on February 12, 2016 and is based on a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The story is reportedly going back to the beginning, and it’s unclear what specific abilities the Merc with a Mouth will have, but 2016 can’t get here fast enough.
