‘Mortal Engines’ Trailer: Peter Jackson-Produced Steampunk Adventure

Steampunk Sci-Fi Adventure

Universal Pictures has revealed the first trailer for Christian Rivers’ steampunk sci-fi adventure Mortal Engines.

The upcoming adaptation of Philip Reeve’s YA series is produced by Peter Jackson, who also co-wrote the film with his Tolkien franchise writing team Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. The first-time director Rivers also worked with Jackson, mostly as a storyboard artist.

Set in a war-ravaged future Earth where entire cities have literally gone mobile, the film stars Robert Sheehan, Hera Hilmar, Hugo Weaving, Jihae, Leila George, Ronan Raftery, Patrick Malahide and Stephen Lang. The books are great. Lots of action and adventure in an interesting setting.

Mortal Engines will be released on December 14, 2018. See the interesting and charming trailer below.

Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.
