Neill Blomkamp Reveals New Sci-Fi Short ‘Rakka’ from Oats Studios

Neill Blomkamp’s Experimental Film

Neill Blomkamp’s recently launched Oats Studio has completed and released the first short, called Rakka, and featuring Sigourney Weaver.

Blomkamp previously confirmed that Volume 1 of the series will have three experimental short films running about twenty minutes each that plays more like an extended proof-of-concept pitch reel (Rakka is included, along with Saigon being the next one). Oats Studios will begin streaming on YouTube and video game platform Steam within the next few months.

In addition to Weaver, Rakka also stars special effects maestro Alec Gillis as one of the human resistance soldiers. You can watch the full short film in the player below:

The story is set in Texas in the near future, where lizard-like creatures determined to apparently wipe out humanity. The humans have created a resistance movement and fight back, attempting to resist and hopefully end the brutal occupation.
