New ‘Ben-Hur’ Trailer & Featurette

Timur Bekmambetov‘s Remake

Paramount Pictures has revealed the new Ben-Hur trailer + a new featurette on the film’s chariot race.

Timur Bekmambetov‘s re-adaptation of the classic story of Judah Ben-Hur stars Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell, Morgan Freeman, Rodrigo Santoro, Nazanin Boniadi, Ayelet Zorer and Sofia Black-D’Elia.

Keith Clarke penned the script and John Ridley did the rewrite. Ben-Hur opens August 12th. You can check out the trailer and featurette below.

The music completely undercuts any dramatic substance and Morgan Freeman looks horribly out of place. The dialogue looks pretty terrible but I liked the bits with the horses.

BEN-HUR is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but an encounter with Jesus (Rodrigo Santoro) leads him to the Crucifixion, where he discovers forgiveness and finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Also starring Morgan Freeman.
