Fox has debuted (via IGN) another official poster for the Matt Reeves-directed sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (along with an international version), which features a gun-toting Caesar (Andy Serkis) atop a horse as he leads his Ape army in battle against a band of surviving humans in post-apocalyptic San Francisco (Yes, they have destroyed the Golden Gate bridge).

Besides the Hollywood ‘secret’ about orange and blue being complementary colors, there must be another reason why is everything on fire. Did the Apes find napalm in the woods? (Because structural steel doesn’t melt until about 2500° F).

Whatever this is, it’s a pretty damn good poster and it should get any fan excited for the film’s release on July 11.

The follow-up to Rise of the Planet of the Apes also stars Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smith-McPhee, Enrique Murciano and Kirk Acevedo.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
