New Emphasis on Race and Gender in Final ‘Hidden Figures’ Trailer

20th Century Fox has revealed a new Hidden Figures trailer. Starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, the Oscar-buzzy film tells the true story of three brilliant African-American mathematicians who worked at NASA during the mission to launch John Glenn into orbit.

Based on the book by Margot Lee Shetterly, the film is directed by Theodore Melfi from a screenplay co-written by Melfi and Allison Schroeder. Also starring Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge and Glen Powell, Hidden Figures will hit select theaters Christmas Day, and everywhere January 6, 2017. It features new music by Pharrell, Monáe, Alicia Keyes, Mary J. Blige, Kim Burrell and more.
