New ‘Hardcore Henry’ Trailer Goes First-Person

Ilya Naishuller’s First-Person POV

STX Entertainment has released a new trailer for Russian sci-fi/horror actioner Hardcore Henry, which is “filled to the brim with holy shit moments.”

Ilya Naishuller’s first-person POV premiered at last year’s Toronto film festival under the title Hardcore, but Ilya was obvious concern about the overlap with the title of the great Paul Schrader film from the ’70s so he added the name of our protagonist, Henry, an amnesiac cyborg who is brought back from death by his scientist wife and must rescue her from an evil crime boss while the entire city of Moscow seems to be out to get him.

Starring Sharlto Copley, Danila Kozlovsky, Haley Bennett, Andrey Dementyev, Dasha Charusha, and Sveta Ustinova, the movie will be playing at the SXSW festival in March before opening on April 8, 2016.

Looks like a trip, I’m sure someone will find that enjoyable. I won’t be able to watch as I know it will make me throw up. The poster is just nuts, one of the best posters I’ve seen in a while.

Ilya Naishuller’s First-Person POV

Strap in. Hardcore Henry is one of the most unflinchingly original wild-rides to hit the big screen in a long time: You remember nothing. Mainly because you’ve just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry. Five minutes later, you are being shot at, your wife has been kidnapped, and you should probably go get her back. Who’s got her? His name’s Akan (Danila Kozlovsky); he’s a powerful warlord with an army of mercenaries, and a plan for world domination. You’re also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, and everyone wants you dead. Everyone except for a mysterious British fellow called Jimmy (Sharlto Copley.) He may be on your side, but you aren’t sure. If you can survive the insanity, and solve the mystery, you might just discover your purpose and the truth behind your identity. Good luck, Henry. You’re likely going to need it…
