New International Trailer for TRASH Starring Rooney Mara

We have a new trailer for Stephen Daldry’s latest film Trash, a story about two trash-picking friends who find a wallet that will change their lives forever.

This adventure-drama features Rooney Mara, Martin Sheen and Wagner Moura alongside three boys, Rickson Teves, Eduardo Luis and Gabriel Weinstein who had never been on camera before.

The UK trailer looks way better than the previous one (at least it has subtitles).

However, the poster just looks awful. If this is supposed to be the tone for the film – how disappointing.

Trash will debut at the Rio de Janiero Film Festival and will be released in the UK on January 30 2015, but no U.S. date has been set yet.

I wouldn’t count it as a strong contender for next year’s Oscars as Universal have put all their bets on Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken (meh).

When two trash-picking boys from Rio’s slums find a wallet in amongst the daily detritus of their local dump, little do they imagine that their lives are about to change forever. But when the local police show up, offering a handsome reward for the wallet’s return, the boys, Rafael (R. Tevez) and Gardo (L. Eduardo), realise that what they’ve found must be important. Teaming up with their friend Rato (G. Weinstein), the trio begins an extraordinary adventure as they try to hang onto the wallet, evade the police, and uncover the secrets it contains.

Along the way, the boys will have to figure out friend from foe, as they piece together the story of the wallet’s owner José angelo (W. Moura) and realise they can’t trust the police, led by the dangerous Frederico (Selton Mello). But a pair of American missionaries working in their favela – the disillusioned Father Julliard (M. Sheen) and his young assistant Olivia (R. Mara) – might just have the power to knock on the right doors.
