New Official Photo of All-Female ‘Ghostbusters’

Melissa Mccarrthy Kristen Wiig

Sony Pictures has released a new official Ghostbusters photo from Paul Feig’s upcoming all-female reboot, featuring the main cast members Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, suiting up and ready for action. I guess this means we can expect a trailer soon.

The female-led franchise reboot also features Chris Hemsworth as the new secretary, Andy Garcia as the Mayor of New York City, Michael K. Williams as a character named “Hawkins,” Matt Walsh as a character named “Rourke,” and Neil Casey as the film’s villain, with appearances by original Ghostbusters cast members Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver. New York City’s NY1 news anchor Pat Kiernan is also set to appear as news anchor in the film set for release on July 15th, 2016.

Take a look at the new image below.

It looks like they were asking “does this look cool?” instead of asking why are we doing this. While I wish them success, this one is not for me.

Erin Gilbert (Wiig) and Abby Yates (McCarthy) are a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. A few years later Gilbert lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, but her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Gilbert reunites with Yates and others when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.
