New PADDINGTON Trailer & Poster with Colin Firth Voicing a Bear [UPDATED]

UPDATE: Colin Firth has dropped out of Paddington Bear flick Paddington, just six months before the scheduled release! A replacement for the Oscar winner has yet to be named.

TWC-Dimension has released a new trailer and poster for the family adventure Paddington, which follows the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear (voiced by Colin Firth) with a passion for all things British who travels to London in search of a home.

I don’t know if you feel the same as I do, but this live-action Paddington looks far more like a passing resemblance to Russian meerkat Aleksandr than the lovable character created by Michael Bond in 1958.

Well, the Internet did not seem to think Paddington looked cute any more, and thus, #CreepyPaddington meme was born on Twitter and Tumblr.

The aforementioned film also stars Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi, and Nicole Kidman as a museum taxidermist.

Directed by twice BAFTA nominated director Paul King, the movie opens in the UK on November 28th and in the US on December 25th.

Check out the trailer, synopsis and poster for a generic CGI bear, once known as Paddington Bear.

Adapted from Michael Bond’s beloved books, Paddington follows the comic misadventures of a polite young bear with an endearing talent for comic chaos.

Paddington has grown up deep in the Peruvian jungle with his Aunt Lucy who, inspired by a chance encounter with an English explorer, has raised her nephew to dream of an exciting life in London. When an earthquake destroys their home, Aunt Lucy decides to smuggle her young nephew on board a boat bound for England, in search of a better life. Arriving alone at Paddington Station, Paddington soon finds that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family, who find him with a label tied around his neck which reads ‘Please look after this bear. Thank you.’ They offer him a temporary home whilst he searches for the explorer who impressed Aunt Lucy all those years before.

But when Paddington catches the eye of a sinister, seductive taxidermist, it isn’t long before his home – and very existence – is under threat …
