New Photos from Kristen Stewart’s CAMP X-RAY

While Kristen Stewart won’t appear in the Snow White sequel, she has returned to Sundance with a new film, Camp X-Ray, and some new images from the Peter Sattler-directed movie have arrived.

The Twilight Saga star has finally found an outlet for her trademark scowl as a rookie US guard at Guantanamo Bay. Sattler’s feature directorial debut, Camp X-Ray co-stars Peyman Moaadi from Iranian Oscar winner A Separation.

According to some critics, the actress delivered perhaps her best screen work to date as an inexperienced military guard, against an equally compelling characterization from Moaadi as the long-term detainee who pierces her shell.

While on the other hand, others found little to like about the film which felt contrived, cliche and melodramatic, with a performance that sadly did little to convince them that Stewart is a gifted actress.

The movie, which is also written by former graphic designer Sattler, co-stars Lane Garrison, J.J. Soria and John Carroll Lynch.

There’s no release date for Camp X-Ray yet. Hit the jump to check out the new photos.

A young woman, Amy Cole, (Kristen Stewart) joins the military to be part of something bigger than herself and her small-town roots. Instead, she ends up as a new guard at Guantanamo Bay, where her mission is far from black and white. Surrounded by hostile jihadists and aggressive squadmates, she strikes up an unusual friendship with one of the detainees. As two people on opposite sides of a war, they struggle to find their way through the ethical quagmire of Guantanamo Bay. In the process, they form an unlikely bond that changes them both.
