New ‘Power Rangers’ Movie Casts Blue Ranger

Actor R.J. Cyler

Wow! When it rains, it pours. Lionsgate and Saban Brands today announced the fourth ranger of the team via the Power Rangers Twitter and Instagram accounts. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl star R.J. Cyler will be filling the role of the Blue Ranger in this new Rangers movie.

I just hope he’s a nerd still. Cyler will join the recently cast Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger and Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger.  Green will probably be Hispanic, and Yellow will be a Black girl. Just kidding, you can expect to hear news of the Yellow Ranger very soon.

Dean Israelite is at the helm of the new movie movie from a script by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. The story reportedly reimagines the origins of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids given extraterrestrial powers who unite to save the world. Filming is scheduled to begin on January 18, 2016 in Vancouver.

Lionsgate’s Power Rangers morphs into theaters Jan. 13, 2017.

Are you eager to see who the Yellow Ranger will be?
