She’s cute. Looks more like a Pink Ranger to me. I am at least satisfied that I’m seeing some Latino representation. The pop star recently has appeared as Valentina in two episodes of Fox’s “Empire.” I have to say, she looks great there.

Dean Israelite’s Power Rangers is slated for January 13, 2017, after it was pushed back from July 2016. While the new movie has been described as a reboot of the 1993 television series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” Collider has reported that the project will be continuous with the current iteration of the TV show on Netflix, one titled “Power Rangers Shuriken” and based on the Japanese TV series “Shuriken Sentai Ninninger.” I will be interesting no matter what.

Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are penning the script.

Update: Following the Yellow Ranger’s casting announcement, a Tweet from Lionsgate’s Power Rangers official account confirmed the civilian identities of the Red, Pink, Black, Blue and Yellow Rangers as Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Billy and Trini, the first group of five teenagers with attitude drafted by Zordon in the original series (via CBR).

That’s good cause the other names didn’t sound right.
