New ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Trailer Arrives

Star Wars Spin-Off Film

As promised, Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm premiered the new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer during NBC’s coverage of the Rio Olympics.

Here’s the plot of the first Star Wars spin-off film:

In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker, Jiang Wen, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Genevieve O’Reilly and the voice of James Earl Jones, Rogue One is set for a December 16, 2016 release. You can watch the first full-length trailer for Gareth Edwards‘ prequel below.

Yeah, we saw and hear Whitaker’s grizzled soldier and Yen’s mystic martial artist, with Kaytoo, the dryly unkind droid voiced by Tudyk talk. And finally, we get our first glimpse of Darth Vader. Check out the poster below.
