New STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Character Name Revealed

New Character Name Revealed

Among the Star Wars names LucasFilm and Disney have registered as trademarks on December 11–including all the new ones that were revealed last week: the ball droid named BB-8, Kylo Ren (the Sith, possibly Adam Driver), the female desert dweller Rey (Daisy Ridley)–is one called “Captain Phasma.”

The name does appear in a 2009 fan-fiction called Tarkin’s First, but that doesn’t tell us much about the Phasma in Star Wars VII, where allegiances lie, or if he is a hero or villain. Whatever, that name sounds like sub-PG name.

Got no idea what to expect with this one, but it’s long been speculated that Captain Phasma is the character being played by Gwendoline Christie, and is rumored to be an “Imperial Officer with ties to the force who is pursuing John Boyega‘s” helmet-less Stormtrooper named Finn, across the universe.

The names of the roles that Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Max Von Sydow play have yet to be revealed. And maybe Driver if that’s not him in the dark cloak. Also none of the returning characters like Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford) or Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) have been registered along with the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens title.

The film hits theaters on December 18th, 2015.
