New ‘T2: Trainspotting’ Trailer Lusts for Life
Sony has unveiled a new trailer for Danny Boyle’s T2: Trainspotting, which is already out in the U.K. and other territories overseas, but U.S. audiences finally get to see it this March.
Ewan McGregor returns to the role of Renton, Ewen Bremner as Spud, Jonny Lee Miller as Sick Boy, and Robert Carlyle as Begbie. The sequel to Boyle’s 1996 breakout film is based on Irvine Welsh‘s follow-up novel “Porno” and has received good reviews so far, with a cumulative score of 78 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film also sees the return of Kelly Macdonald and arrives in Los Angeles and New York March 17, then select U.S. theaters on March 24 and a wide release on March 31.
“I always thought that if these characters were asked to do a sequel, they would agree reluctantly and say, ‘All right but you have got to call it T2 so that you can annoy James Cameron.’ Terminator 2 is known as ‘T2’ but actually not legally. We can call our film T2,” Boyle said.
“The reason Trainspotting is added after it is because everyone books online now and online things do take you to the James Cameron film, rather than our film, so we had to concede defeat to commerce eventually.”
First there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal. Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle). Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.
