New Trailer for Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dunkirk’ is Out

Warner Bros. has released the full trailer for Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic Dunkirk, about the evacuation of Allied troops from Northern France in 1940.

Starring Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, Fionn Whitehead, Aneurin Barnard, Harry Styles, and James D’Arcy, the film tells the true story of Operation Dynamo, which saw 338,000 soldiers from Belgium, Britain and France rescued by fishing boats across the English channel.

Nolan and his Interstellar cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema shot the film on a combination of IMAX 65mm and 65mm large format film photography. Interstellar composer Hans Zimmer returns as well.

Dunkirk hits theaters on July 21. Watch the new trailer, which gives us a closer look at Rylance’s character, a civilian who decides to save as many people as he can with his tiny boat.

“Dunkirk” opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.
