New Trailer for James Franco’s CHILD OF GOD

James Franco‘s not only helping Seth Rogen who attempts to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, but also he co-wrote and directed Child of God, the movie that probably won’t start a war with DPRK.

The new trailer for a big-screen adaptation of Cormac McCarthy‘s novel Child of God has been unveiled to support the film’s summer release.

Franco adapted the book, structured in three segments with Scott Haze giving a great performance while portraying derange, cave-dweling killer Lester Ballard in the vein of Sam Rockwell’s character from The Green Mile. Franco also makes an appearance in the pic.

My biggest problem with his directorial work is that his films look too sloppy and slack to inspire tension. Child of God premiered at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals to mixed reviews. As you might imagine, Franco’s fans strongly disagree with this approach.

Tim Blake Nelson and Jim Parrack (True Blood) also appear in the film that gets a limited release on August 1, 2014.

Whatever your opinion of JF, watch the new trailer, much better than the first one.

A dispossessed, violent man’s life is a disastrous attempt to exist outside the social order. Successively deprived of parents and homes and with few other ties, Ballard descends to the level of a cave dweller as he falls deeper into crime and degradation.
