New Trailer for ‘Suicide Squad’ Rounds Up the Worst Heroes

David Ayer’s Superhero Film

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first official trailer for writer/director David Ayer’s superhero film Suicide Squad, showing off the antihero team in all its glory.

As we posted before, the new trailer for this non-typical comic book movie debuted as a part of the DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League special on The CW. The new trailer is more polished compared to last year’s Comic-Con reel, and smells like a Guardians of the Galaxy marketing rip off. Looks cool tho.

Jared Leto looks sort of silly but I still believe he’s going to knock it out of the park. I think that Jai Courtney has finally found a role that suits him. Viola Davis as Amanda is and does look awesome. And Will Smith seems less “Will Smith” than his usual acting performances. However, small mention, but the crazy doesn’t feel natural on Margot Robbie. Or Harley Quinn’s jokes weren’t landing for me. I just feel as though movies like Deadpool and Suicide Squad are taking us into the baroque period of superhero movies.

Enough talk! It’s time to see the worst heroes in action, backed by Queen‘s Bohemian Rhapsody.

So many badass women in this, love it.

Suicide Squad also stars Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El DIablo and Adam Beach as Slipknot. There’s also mystery roles for Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Raymond Olubowale, Alex Meraz, Jim Parrack, and Common.

Created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru back in 1959, the Suicide Squad team has included countless DC villains among its ranks, including Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Bane, Killer Frost, Poison Ivy, Count Vertigo, Deathstroke, and Harley Quinn. The CW’s “Arrow” introduced their own version of the team in the most recent season of the series and the recent animated film, Batman: Assault on Arkham, offered another version of the team. Suicide Squad is scheduled for release on August 5, 2016.
