New Trailer Released for Toho’s ‘Godzilla: Resurgence’

A new foreign trailer has arrived online for Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi‘s Godzilla: Resurgence (Shin Godzilla), which hits Japanese theaters on July 29.

The King of the Monsters’ latest big screen adventure will be Toho’s first Godzilla film in over a decade. The studio has released 28 Godzilla movies since the 1954 original classic. The largest Godzilla in movie history now stands 389 feet fall, making him even taller than Gareth Edwards‘ most recent take.

Since Warner Bros. Japan is co-distributing, it’s possible that Godzilla: Resurgence could get a U.S. release later this year. The cast includes Hiroki Hasegawa, Yutaka Takenouchi, Satomi Ishihara and Alex Hormigo.

A cause unknown, an accident has occurred in the tunnels of the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line, causing an emergency cabinet meeting to convene. Immediately afterwards, a huge creature appears, destroying town after town with its landing reaching the capital. The mysterious giant organism named “Godzilla.”

Update: Over at San Diego Comic-Con 2016, Funimation Films announced that they have secured rights to the upcoming Japanese live-action feature film, Shin Godzilla (or Godzilla Resurgence) throughout the Americas and is currently planning to release the live-action film in theaters in late 2016.
