New U.S. Trailer for Xavier Dolan’s TOM AT THE FARM

Xavier Dolan's Psychological Thriller

Xavier Dolan‘s (Mommy)  psychological thriller Tom at the Farm is finally making its way to U.S. theaters and the first official domestic trailer is now here.

The prolific filmmaker wrote, directed and starred in this psycho-sexual thriller, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, back in 2013.

It’s hard to say it in a fully modest way, but I was truly puzzled as to how exactly ‘Tom At The Farm’ had never landed distribution in the US,” he said in a press release. “To me, it was by far my most accessible film; I mean, it’s a 90-minute psychological thriller, and it’s sort of gory but then very conventional too. I’m obviously psyched that Amplify Releasing has taken ‘Tom’ under their wing. But the topic remains truly relevant – can intolerance and psychological violence ever be dull? – and I’m proud to know the American public will be able to see it. And hopefully, like it.”

Tom at the Farm co-stars Pierre-Yves Cardinal, Lise Roy, Evelyne Brochu and Caleb Landry Jones in a very small uncredited role as Tom’s deceased lover. Amplify will release the film in select theaters on August 14th. Check out the English-subbed trailer below.

After the sudden death of his lover, Guillaume, Tom (Xavier Dolan – Mommy, Heartbeats, I Killed My Mother), travels from his home in the city to a remote country farm for the funeral. Upon arriving, he’s shocked to find that Guillaume’s family knows nothing about him and was expecting a woman in his place. Torn between his own grief and that of the family, Tom keeps his identity a secret but soon finds himself increasingly drawn into a twisted, sexually-charged game by Guillaume’s aggressive brother (Pierre-Yves Cardinal), who suspects the truth. Stockholm syndrome, deception, grief, and savagery pervade this psychological thriller from filmmaker Xavier Dolan.
