No Plans for IRON MAN 4, Says Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. claims there are no plans for an Iron Man 4.

“There isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth Iron Man,”

said the actor in Toronto, while promoting The Judge.

Honestly speaking, we all kind of knew this since Marvel announced in June of 2013 that Downey Jr. had signed a two-picture deal to reprise the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man in Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Avengers 3, and Iron Man 4 was not part of the deal.

I’m fine with Iron Man only featuring in Avengers movies from now on. Downey Jr. is perfect as Stark, but the stories have only exponentially worsened though. However, if he does come back for the sequel, another new contract will be required. Also it doesn’t mean that Marvel won’t re-cast the role.

“I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I’m casting director for Marvel,”

he told Variety this weekend.

Or Tony  does in fact die in Age of Ultron, killed by his own hubris, and is saved by time travel to return in Avengers 3?

One way or another, the Avengers sequels will hit theaters in summer 2015 and 2018. Age of Ultron has been set for May 1, 2015, but Marvel has yet to announce a date for Avengers 3.

For now, we should prepare to say goodbye to Downey’s billionaire playboy after that.
