Oscar Bait: First Trailer for Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Post’

20th Century Fox has dropped on Tuesday night the first trailer for The Post, the Pentagon Papers film which marks the first time Oscar winners Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg have collaborated on a project.

The period film portrays the Washington Post during its golden era, just before the Watergate scandal, and also stars Sarah Paulson, Bob Odenkirk, Matthew Rhys, Bradley Whitford, Carrie Coon, Jesse Plemons, David Cross, Alison Brie, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Michael Stuhlbarg and Zach Woods.

The script was written by newcomer Liz Hannah with a rewrite by Oscar winner Josh Singer. Check out the film’s first trailer (+ poster) below.

The Post will be released in select theaters on December 22 (just before the cutoff for the 2018 Oscars) and go on general release on January 12.
