Oscar Isaac Talks X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Badass Costume

Practical And Digital Effects

Following the news via Yahoo! Movies that Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellen won’t be back for X-Men: Apocalypse, now word comes from the same site that Oscar Isaac‘s look for Apocalypse will be pulled off through a couple of techniques.

While promoting his android drama Ex-Machina, the actor revealed that his titular villain role in Bryan Singer-directed mutant sequel is “a hulking mass of alien robotics and super-villainy who can crush all those puny humans with a flick of his wrist.”

“It’ll be a mix of [practical and digital effects],” Isaac said. “I haven’t had a script, so I haven’t had a chance to look through the script and see what the exact requirements are, but I think it’ll be a mixture of physical, aided with some robotic technology.”

I have always thought that Isaac would be doing something entirely motion capture and that we wouldn’t see his face. He later added,

“After we finish here, I’m heading to do a head cast [for X-Men: Apocalypse], which they do often. You spend three to four hours with them putting plaster all over your head, and they get a sense of what your face is like, and what shape your head is, so they can start figuring out the costume and the make-up and all that stuff, which is pretty fun.”

Well, I had my face covered in highschool to make masks and it was a blast, but for the money he is going to make he should be happy to have his head covered in plaster.

Filming starts this April for the May 27th, 2016 release date and I really looking forward to seeing what they come up with. Maybe he’ll go through an ‘evolution’ like Ultron? Or maybe a cross between the demon Batman from Begins and Thanos in Guardians would be cool? Ultron looks much more badass and I’d love to see Oscar Isaac play Apocalypse as I am seeing James Spader play Ultron in Age of Ultron. But I’m afraid it sounds more like a Ruffalo/Hulk affair.
