‘Pacific Rim 2’ Starts Filming; Jing Tian Joins Sequel
The Jaeger-Kaiju sequel is finally happening! The next installment in the Pacific Rim franchise has communicated cast, filming and location updates.
The Kong: Skull Island star Jing Tian has reportedly joined a cast that already includes John Boyega, Scott Eastwood and Cailee Spaeny. Boyega will essay the role of Stacker Pentecost, the son of Idris Elba‘s character who sacrificed his life in the original film; it is unclear who Tian will play.
The production begins this November in Australia, with principal photography also taking place in China.
The new Pacific Rim movie is set to be directed by “Daredevil” Season 1 showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, based on the world created by Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham. Del Toro remains involved as a key producer on the film.
Pacific Rim 2 will be release on February 23, 2018, worldwide, with the exception of China. Before that, you can catch Tian in The Great Wall on February 17, 2017 and in Kong: Skull Island on March 10, 2017.
