MONSTER Director Patty Jenkins Boards WONDER WOMAN Now

Warner Bros. Female Superhero Movie

Hot on the heels of Michelle MacLaren‘s departure, Warner Bros. has found a new Wonder Woman director. THR again first broke the news that Patty Jenkins (weird way to spell “Angelina Jolie,” lol), will sit in the director’s chair instead. Well, that was fast.

Ironically, Jenkins was the original director of Thor: The Dark World before fell out over “creative differences” two years ago and Marvel removed her from the project. So she had a similar experience MacLaren has had over at WB.

Jenkins is also an experienced TV director (episodes of “Arrested Development,” “Entourage,” and “The Killing”), but unlike MacLaren, she started out in movies (she was the filmmaker behind the Oscar-winning Monster movie, starring Charlize Theron).

Hopefully Warner Bros. lets her do what she needs to do. And maybe Marvel can grab MacLaren for Captain Marvel so everyone’s happy. Whatever the case, there’s still hope the first solo Wonder Woman movie should be on track to meet the previously set June 23rd, 2017 release date.

Of course, Gal Gadot (Fast Five) will debut her take on the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25, 2016. Wonder Woman is also going to play a full role in Justice League Part One, which hits theaters on November 10, 2017.
