Paul Feig Eyes Female-Led GHOSTBUSTERS 3

Paul Feig, who helmed lady-led comedies The Heat and Bridesmaids, has been revealed as Sony’s top pick to direct the long-overdue Ghostbusters threequel, with female leads.

Variety claims that the script will be started over from scratch and that Feig’s planning to helm a Ghostbusters reboot instead of Ghostbusters 3.

If it’s true, the sound you are hearing is the sound of the Dan Aykroyd’s crying. Unlike Bill Murray, he has remained particularly optimistic about the project and said that he will return.

The outlet cautions that Ghostbusters fem reboot wouldn’t necessarily be Feig’s next film adding that it would go after Melissa McCarthy-starring comedy Spy, which is slated for a Memorial Day 2015 release.

McCarthy and Rose Byrne seem like an obvious choice, but that also makes my inner child cry.

Whatever the case may be, it’s going to be such a difficult task for Sony to get it right.

Sony is reportedly looking to start shooting Spring 2015. Hopefully, we’ll start hearing more details soon.
