There’s a PLAY-DOH Film in the Works with Paul Feig in Talks to Direct

20th Century Fox

Another things movie is coming! According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox is teaming with Hasbro to bring to the big screen the children’s modeling clay Play-Doh that’s fun to play with but not to eat it.

Bridesmaids and Ghostbusters reboot director Paul Feig is in talks to helm the flick about the terrible-smelling, colored substance that you can squeeze into various shapes. And yes, Feig’s the perfect man for the job, I agree.

The title of related news that I find a quite interesting, reads as follows: “There’s a Play-Doh Movie in the Works and It Will Probably Involve Melissa McCarthy” It’s ironic, but it’s true.

Jason A. Micallef (Butter) is set to write the script. Hasbro will produce the Play-Doh film alongside Chernin Entertainment and Feig’s Feigco banner. Totally necessary. I can sleep easier now.

However, I’m afraid I don’t share the opinion of similarity between The Lego Movie and the theatrical potential for Play-Doh because Lego had a very marketable character driven concept (“Ninjago” TV series, video games), and Play-Doh has no character driven concept to work off of.

However, stay tuned to see what happens.
