‘Power Rangers’ First Look: Meet the New Teenagers with Attitude

New Teenagers With Attitude

EW has debuted the first Power Rangers cast photo of the new group of teenagers with attitude, along with loads of new details about Lionsgate’s feature film based on the 1990s franchise.

Featuring RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart/Pink Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor/Black Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger and Becky G. as Trini Kwan/Yellow Ranger, the first cast image gives fans of the franchise a glimpse into the modern day retelling of the original “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” described as a coming-of-age story for the misfit high schoolers.

“From the very beginning, diversity was a very important part of the whole process,” director Dean Israelite said. “We switched all of the races around, but we made sure that the essence of each of those characters are who they were in the original show, and this really will be an origin story of those characters.”

Elizabeth Banks has also been confirmed to play Rita Repulsa, an eye-shadow-abusing, pointy-wigged antagonist with the ability to channel the “insane” legacy of the original series’ first villain.

Power Rangers morphs into theaters March 24, 2017. Check out the first look at the title teens gathered together in their daily wear rather than their colorful uniforms.

New Teenagers With Attitude

They definitely look like they have attitude by the looks of their faces although that pictures gives me a Disney movie kind of vibe. Here’s the official synopsis:

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
