R.I.P. Alan Rickman (1946-2016)

British Actor Passed Aged 69

Film Cutting would like to pay respects to much-loved British actor Alan Rickman who has passed aged 69 after a battle with cancer. What a sad coincidence… David Bowie also passed away from cancer at age 69, earlier this week.

Best-known for playing the iconic villains in Die Hard, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and the Harry Potter film series, he’s had so many memorable roles–the voice of Marvin the robot in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Alexander Dane in Galaxy Quest, the worst guy in Love Actually, and many more.

Rickman recently completed Alice Through the Looking Glass, in which he delivered the voice of the Blue Caterpillar.

In addition to his extensive acting credits, he also directed two feature films in 1997’s The Winter Guest, which played in competition in Venice, and 2014’s A Little Chaos, which ran at the Toronto Film Festival.

Here’s a compilation of his time as Severus Snape:

Alan Rickman is survived by his wife Rima Horton. Rest in peace, Mr. Rickman, the world has lost another great actor.
