‘Robin Hood: Origins’ Adds Jamie Foxx as a War-Weary Little John

Little John Robin Hood Origins

Deadline was the first to report that Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx is now our new Little John. He’ll join Taron Egerton, who plays the title role, and Eve Hewson who is set to play Maid Marian in the upcoming Robin Hood: Origins.

According to the outlet, Robin Hood’s right hand man and merriest of Merry Men in this version will be “a battle hardened but war weary veteran of The Crusades who starts out distrustful of Robin Hood, and then warms to the young hero in the gritty revisionist take on the legend.”

With the tone of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, the film is based on a screenplay by Joby Harold (Knights of the Roundtable) and marks the first of four major competing Robin Hood projects in Hollywood at the moment.

Otto Bathurst (“Peaky Blinders”) is helming the pic that Lionsgate will put into production late summer or fall after Egerton wraps the Kingsman sequel.

Well, that’s the dumbest thing I have read all day. Foxx is way too short. The whole point of Little John is that he’s a big guy. I couldn’t care less about the ethnicity of the actor they end up casting, but size is a key factor for this role. C’mon, is this Robin Hood a comedy this time?
