Ron Howard’s IN THE HEART OF THE SEA has Its New Trailer

Ron Howard Adaptation

Warner Bros. has just released a brand new international trailer for director Ron Howard’s feature adaptation of the Nathaniel Philbrick non-fiction book “In the Heart of the Sea” that inspired Herman Melville’s classic novel “Moby Dick.”

The ocean-faring adventure stars Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, George Pollard, Cillian Murphy, Tom Holland, Brendan Gleeson, Jordi Molla and Ben Whishaw as the famous novelist Melville. In the Heart of the Sea opens in theaters on March 13, 2015.

Check out the UK version of the new trailer.

The whale’s hugeness is pretty amazing, but why the focus is on whaling? Howard’s last movie, Rush kept its eye on its characters despite the high-octane kicks and crowd-pleasing moments. Maybe the footage has just been cut that way for this trailer. That is one pissed off whale though, holy crap. Looks awesome!

In the Heart of_the Sea

In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. “Heart of the Sea” reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.
