Rosario Dawson to Voice Batgirl in ‘The Lego Batman Movie’

The Lego Movie Spin-Off

THR reports that fan-fav actress Rosario Dawson will lend her voice to Batgirl in Warner Bros.’s upcoming The Lego Batman Movie, opposite Will Arnett as the Dark Knight, Michael Cera as Batman’s sidekick Robin, and Zach Galifianakis as the Joker.

Dawson signed on to the voice cast of the big screen spin-off of 2014’s The Lego Movie, playing Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner Jim Gordon, who eventually takes up the crime-fighting mantle as the famous vigilante Batgirl. This isn’t the voice actor we need, it’s the voice actor we deserve.

Chris McKay, the animation supervisor on The Lego Movie, is directing from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith. Given the cast and the screenwriter, it is difficult to believe it will be anything other than a straight-up action comedy film.

The Lego Batman Movie opens February 10, 2017.

Dawson recently finished filming the second season of the Netflix/Marvel original series “Daredevil,” playing the Hell’s Kitchen-based nurse Claire Temple, and will reprise that role in the upcoming “Jessica Jones” and “Luke Cage” Netflix shows, too.
