Rumor: Farrell, McGregor, Perlman, Bellucci Eyed for ‘Justice League Dark’

DC Comics Cinematic Universe

Update: According to JoBlo, Big Bad Wolves duo Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado along with Evil Dead remake helmer Fede Alvarez are the frontrunners to take the gig right now.

According to Latino Review, several big names are on Warner Bros.’ casting wishlist for the Justice League Dark movie, tentatively titled Dark Universe. Back in October, it was revealed that the studio is going to try and get the project underway, even though director Guillermo del Toro dropped out.

A new rumor says Colin Farrell and Monica Bellucci are the frontrunners to play John Constantine and near-immortal magician and sage Madame Xanadu in the film. Word is Ewan McGregor has also been approached for the Constantine role, but he may “fall back on” Jason Blood, the human half to the Demon, Etrigan.

Furthermore, it’s said that the odds are on del Toro’s frequent collaborator Ron Perlman to play Swamp Thing, and that they’re looking to diversify the Mistress of Magic herself, Zatanna with a Hispanic/black actress.

Additionally, Cara Delevingne‘s Enchantress from next year’s Suicide Squad might cameo, which would connect Dark Universe to the greater DC Comics Cinematic Universe.

The Justice League Dark movie doesn’t have a director or release date established as of this time, so take it with the usual grain of salt, but let’s hope there’s some truth to it.
