Rumor: Solo Batman Movie will Feature Red Hood as Villain

Batman Solo Movie Rumor

Possible Spoilers Ahead: JoBlo today reports that Warner Bros. wants to use 1988’s “A Death in the Family” and 2005’s “Under the Hood” as the basis for the upcoming Ben Affleck-starring solo Batman movie.

Take it with a grain of salt, of course, but according to the site, the big deal about the stand-alone Batman movie is that it will introduce The Red Hood aka Jason Todd, the former Robin-turned-killer who was killed by The Joker in the “Death in the Family” story arc.

The movie is seeing Todd returned from the dead, working from the shadows and framing Batman for his crimes. The rumored story leads to a confrontation between Batman, Todd and Jared Leto’s Joker, who will also feature in the film as a primary villain alongside Red Hood.

Yes, this all sounds like fanboy rumor spreading wishful thinking, but that’s not all. Dick Grayson, the first Robin, is also rumored for the film having ascended to the position of Nightwing. He will help Batman in his fight against both Joker and Red Hood. The character will reportedly be referenced but not seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Does that sound like “the right direction to take the Dark Knight story” to you?

Affleck is currently writing the film with Geoff Johns and has expressed an interest in directing. I think that fits Affleck’s directing style a little more, but I’m not sold on him directing Batman. There is currently no release date for the film. Plans are always subject to change and can be replaced by other plans, so stay tuned.
