Rumored Snake Plissken Shortlist

I know it’s been a good while since you’ve heard anything from the rumored “gun and run thriller” Escape from New York remake.

Well, Starlog is reporting that Joel Silver’s production company is pushing ahead to make it happen and lists three names that top the Escape from New York casting wishlist for the new Snake Plissken.

According to the site, the current contenders to step into Kurt Russell’s boots are Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim), Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) and Dan Stevens (The Guest).

Their report should be taken with a grain of salt because the film is in very early pre-production and is still without a director. Furthermore, Hunnam is a bit of a question mark due to both his planned Pacific Rim sequel and a potential role in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur adventure.

However, there might be a chance for Stevens and Bernthal to be the next action franchise superhero.

Starlog also reveal that this remake will adopt more of a team-based approach, as Snake “traverses through a treacherous New York landscape with a rogues gallery of criminals who look to leave the island-turned-prison in exchange for the rescue of the captured U.S. President.”

I think it would be much cooler if they made a sequel with Kurt Russel instead of a remake.

More news on “remake that nobody could possibly want to see” as we get it.
