Scarlett Johansson & Jonah Hill in Talks for the Coen’s HAIL CAESAR!

According to Variety, the Lucy star Scarlett Johansson is in talks to join the stellar cast of Joel & Ethan Coen’s new film Hail Caesar!, while The Wrap adds the 22 Jump Street star Jonah Hill into the mix as well.

Johansson will play an actress who unexpectedly becomes pregnant (incidentally, this happened with Johansson earlier this year with the filming of The Avengers: Age of Ultron) as her film is about to go into production, while Hill’s role for now is being kept secret and it’s unclear if he’ll share any scenes with 22 Jump Street co-star Channing Tatum.
George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes have all already been attached to the Coen brothers period comedy.

Based on an original screenplay by the filmmaking brothers, Hail Caesar! is set in the 1950s and follows Eddie Mannix, a Hollywood fixer whose job is to try and keep celebrity scandals away from the tabloids. Clooney will be playing Mannix, Tatum is playing a movie star that Mannix needs to keep out of trouble, Fiennes is playing a director, and Swinton is playing a gossip columnist.

Johansson’s role is not expected to take very long to shoot and if she does land the role, it would mark her second time working with the Coens as she already did in the 2001 neo-noir The Man Who Wasn’t There, which was pretty good.

No release date for Hail Caesar! yet. The film will begin shooting this fall.
