Real-Life Sports Drama

Ascot Elite has revealed the first international teaser trailer for the real-life sports drama Borg/McEnroe, starring Shia LaBeouf as the famously hot-headed John McErnoe.

Directed by Danish filmmaker Janus Metz Pedersen from a screenplay by Ronnie Sandahl, the film also stars Iceland’s Sverrir Gudnason as his tennis court rival Bjorn Borg. Stellan Skarsgard, Tuva Novotny, and Robert Emms co-star.

The upcoming Swedish film is all about the epic 1980 Wimbledon final between one of the world’s greatest icons Borg, who was known for his cool and emotionless demeanor on court, and the young and talented McEnroe, who was famed for his court-side tantrums.

The film is primarily focused on Bjorn Borg and is slated to be released in Norway, Sweden and the UK on September 15, 2017. Check out the first Borg/McEnroe trailer below, along with the poster.

“I don’t know if they are planning on doing the whole movie without input or any type of arrangement from me or Bjorn,”McEnroe said last year. “I haven’t seen anything, and they’ve already started the movie.” Borg/McEnroe doesn’t have a US release date yet.
