Simon Kinberg & Neill Blomkamp Board Ruairi Robinson’s THE LEVIATHAN

Ruairí Robinson's Sci-Fi-Project

Hot on the heels of the debut of Ruairí Robinson’s sci-fi proof-of-concept short The Leviathan, Deadline reports that X-Men writer and producer Simon Kinberg and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp have come on board to produce the film.

Robinson’s three and a half minutes long teaser quickly racked up 2 million views on Vimeo and YouTube so it’s no wonder Kinberg already has a first-look deal with Fox and Lucasfilm so both studios may decide they want in as well.

Here’s a synopsis for this 22nd century story, penned by Robinson and Jim Uhls (Fight Club):

Mankind has colonized many worlds in a time when travel faster than the speed of light has been made possible by the harvesting of exotic matter from the eggs of the largest species mankind has ever seen. Those that take part in the hunt for the matter are mostly involuntary labor.

As I mentioned before, great teaser but you need a good story and so far I’ve not heard it.

Great news anyway, looking forward to it.
