Sony Rebooting David Bowie’s ‘Labyrinth’

1986 Fantasy Film

Sony’s Tri-Star has closed a deal with The Jim Henson Company for a remake of Jim Henson‘s 1986 fantasy film Labyrinth, starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman is on board to pen the script. It’s unclear whether this new movie will be a sequel, a re-imagining of the original tale, or some other form of revival.

I think the announcement is extremely poorly timed, Bowie is barely cold. The best news is Perlman being attached. I know her draft will be great. Last year, she signed on to co-write Captain Marvel alongside Meg LeFauve (Inside Out).

It would be interesting to see who would play the Goblin King after the Thin White Duke. I’ll bet you all my nickels that they’ll get Benedict Cumberpatch for the Bowie part.
