Sony to Create an AVENGERS-Style Shared Universe of Robin Hood Movies

In case you have wondered where Hollywood’s next big shared-universe could be, well the answer is Sherwood Forest.

It seems that every studio now wants to follow the Avengers model and Sony Pictures is not the exception to the rule. Mixed results from Spider-Man did not stop them from trying to find a way to make the same concept work for them.

Heat Vision reports that Sony is about to spend seven figures on a Robin Hood-inspired pitch called Hood. The studio is set to pay a whopping $1 million against $2 million for a pitch from Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott, the team behind Warner Bros.’ upcoming sci-fi pic Lore.

Sources told THR that it’s a re-imagining of the classic tale and will establish the vigilante archer of British folklore alongside Merry Men like Will Scarlett, Little John, Friar Tuck, etc. Moreover,

“the tone of story has been described as Mission: Impossible and the recent Fast & Furious movies.”

Robin Hood shooting arrows and stealing the rich while driving a race car in the middle ages? How cool is that?! How you create a new Marvel-style universe around what consists of once central character is somewhat of a mystery….

Anyways, the plan being to potentially then give them solo spinoff films further down the road. Michael De Luca (Captain Phillips) is overseeing the project for Sony.

Dear Sony, please just scrap this ridiculous idea and give all that money to Mel Brooks so he can make Men in Tights 2.
