Steven Spielberg Cold War Thriller

Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanksuntitled Cold War thriller has an official title: Bridge of Spies.

The much-anticipated project will not feature a score composed by John Williams (who scored 26 of Spielberg’s 27 films), but due to a health condition, the film will instead be composed by the talented Thomas Newman.

Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies opens everywhere this fall on October 16th, and also stars Mark Rylance, Amy Ryan, Sebastian Koch, and Alan Alda.

Hit the jump to check out the new photo of Hanks as James Donovan, a Brooklyn lawyer who “finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot.” A script was originally penned by Matt Charman and rewritten by Oscar-winning writing and directing duo Joel & Ethan Coen.
