A Cast of Unknowns for STAR WARS EPISODE 7?

Back in Decembar last year, Lord of the Rings actor Dominic Monaghan tweeted that he was lobbying J.J. Abrams for a role in the new Star Wars movies, which caught the attention of many fans and Star Wars website owners.

Abrams and Monaghan have already worked together in the Lost series and the actor was hounding the former producer for a part in the upcoming Episode VII.

In a recent interview with Dweebcast, Monaghan reveals that Abrams is turning to a cast of relatively unknown thespians “to make sure fans aren’t ‘taken out’ of the Star Wars universe while watching the film.”

He said that he would consider a role in Star Wars at a later date as well:

Obviously I would like to be in ‘Star Wars at some point… give me a lightsaber, I’ll do anything.

So, in other news… actor Denis Lawson who played Wedge Antilles in the Original Trilogy actually had a chance to reprise the role for Episode 7, despite it was previously mentioned that he turned down the opportunity to reprise his Star Wars role when George Lucas revisited the story in 2005.

Director Gary Mancini (Binding The Galaxy Together), a huge Star Wars fan for many years, had this to say:

We spoke to him when he was doing a signing last year and he said he wasn’t interested in just a cameo, but if there was a fully rounded and expanded role for him in the film, he would consider it, script and price pending.

Star Wars: Episode 7 is due out on December 18, 2015.
