Apparently Star Wars: Episode VII casting is still in progress as new names are being mentioned as contenders for a Jedi. The short list for the movie’s lead role has been cut short to rather eclectic mix of several young actors.

Young thespians such as Ed Speleers (Downton Abbey), John Boyega (Attack The Block), and theater actors Matthew James Thomas (Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) and Ray Fisher, have joined Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad) for a lead part in the film. Previous sketchy rumor suggested that Plemons has been in heavy consideration for a role, possibly Luke’s son Ben Skywalker.

Late last month it was also revealed that the Girls actor Adam Driver would play the lead villain, which is in the vein of Darth Vader.

R2-D2 will be returning for Episode VII as well as original Star Wars cast members Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. There still has been no announcement on R2-D2’s companion C-3PO.

Michael Arndt’s original draft would have focused on Han Solo and Princess Leia’s offspring, but it looks like J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan’s rewrite moves those characters into a supporting role instead. A proposed reason for this, and the film’s delayed start, is that the creative team wants to deviate from the Caucasian leads of the past, and that Abrams wants a diversified cast.

The upcoming Star Wars movie is set to start shooting in London’s Pinewood Studios some time in May and lasting through September. Disney is expected to release the film on December 18, 2015.

Who is your favorite of the bunch?
