STAR WARS: EPISODE VII Filming has Begun!

It’s safe to say that it’s happening: shooting has begun on Star Wars: Episode VII! J.J. Abrams‘ film company Bad Robot has tweeted a photo of a branded clapper board with the hashtag “#dayone”.

Right now at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, Abrams is sitting behind a monitor with cinematographer Daniel Mindel that marks the first time director has filmed outside the US.

Original cast members Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) alongside Anthony Daniels as C3PO, Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca and Kenny Baker as R2-D2 have roles in the first Star Wars title released by Disney and are joined by Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015.

The big question is can they make a epic like Star Wars in one year? Keep in mind that the over-use of CGI added in post was one of the biggest issues with the prequels.
